Field Day

Primarily the purpose of Field Day is to work as many stations as possible on any and all amateur bands (excluding the 60, 30, 17, and 12-meter bands) and in doing so to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions. A premium is placed on developing skills to meet the challenges of emergency preparedness as well as to acquaint the general public with the capabilities of Amateur Radio. ARRL Field Day is by far the most popular on-the-air operating event in Amateur Radio. It’s all about FUN! Don’t forget the Pot Luck lunch/dinner at Field Day.

Always the fourth full weekend in June
MWA’s 2008 version of ARRL Field Day June 28/29
The annual ARRL Field Day was held on Saturday/Sunday, June 28/29, 2008.
MWA’s version was slightly different this year due to many factors beyond MWA control.
Unfortunately, with all the rain showers we were only able to operate part time.
At the MWA Field Day Covered Dish - Pot Luck BBQ, the unanimous feeling among the membership, many who didn’t want to talk with their mouths full, gave a hearty thumbs up to have several more of these outdoor BBQ events while the warm weather holds out. Many of the covered dishes were special family recipes that were handed down from one generation to another.
