JUST WAITING FOR FIELD DAY

FIELD DAY is just around the block.
Its time to plan. We must not stop.
Must not stop. The plan we lay.
To have another great FIELD DAY.

Letter write, will Norton do?
Just change the date and press F2.
Bit and byte and printer whir,
FIELD DAY, can we, DNR sir?

The DNR will read the write
And change the date at their computer site.
The joy we hear. The joy we found.
The FIELD DAY site at the Sand Springs ground.

The grass is tall but Thursday night
The mowers roar at the FIELD DAY site.
Bottles, paper, and cans we pick,
The FIELD DAY site will look real slick.

Al will make a great phone call
To get the thing to relieve us all.
Relive us all. Its big and blue.
FIELD DAY is better because of you.

Run class 'A'. No power line.
But hope the purr of the Honda's fine.
The Honda purrs. the Honda lights.
The Honda powers the FIELD DAY site.

Antennas here and coax there.
Amateur stations every where.
Five will run or maybe six.
The moon will shine the rain we nix.

Operators meet about at noon.
The time will come, but not to soon
Hit the switch and call "CQ"
But not before the hour of two.

Come Saturday night we party down.
Dogs and burgers will now be found.
Chicken and chips and cherry pie.
The younger ones will go wide eye.

All night long we press to talk.
Some use fingers, of which I balk
Logs are filled. Dupes are made.
As morning comes the low bands fade.

The score will soar as the radio's hum.
But wait, we do this just for fun.
We sit and jaw and problem solve.
World problems we will resolve.

Time is up. the end at hand.
Pick up the trash, butts, bottles, and cans.
Down with the antennas. Pack everything in.
And wait a whole year for FIELD DAY to begin.!

STATE RADIO COUNCIL MEETING

MWA will host the STATE RADIO COUNCIL meeting on Saturday March 22, 1997. The place will be announced on the Wednesday evening Net and at the regular club meeting on March 18. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend this meeting.

TESTING SESSION UPDATE

At the February 27, 1997 VE session, with KA8ZOO, KU8C, K8OH, and KX2A serving as VEs, there were 13 persons who took license examinations. Nine of these test takers received new Technician licenses. Two additional test takers passed element 2.

Our next session will be on April 24, 1997, in the Engineering Sciences Building of WVU.

Here are two additional reasons to upgrade to Extra Class :

You will be issued a high-prestige four-character call by the FCC, except that they have run out of new four-character calls, and you will receive a five-character call, just as if you had a new Novice license.

You can tell yourself (and your spouse) that you should upgrade your station with the best equipment suited to your radio interests, since you have upgraded your knowledge and certification to that level.

KX2A, Jan
